Let me explain the prostate surgery procedure in brief. There are two basic ways. The first one is used when the prostate has grown very large and is called open surgery. The surgeon cuts through the skin above the base of the penis and removes a piece of the prostate. There is no need to remove the whole prostate unless there are signs of cancer.
