Avoid Prostate Cancer – Tomatoes Help Keep Your Prostate Healthy

Medical studies have shown that the antioxidants in tomatoes, along with broccoli can lower prostate cancer risk.  Foods with animal fats can increase the risk.  Current studies are still evaluating the value of antioxidant supplements, but food scientists are stating that they’re comfortable advocating that all men should eat far more vegetables than they currently do.  A vegetable based diet could indeed lower the risk of prostate cancer.

There’s also observational evidence that both tomato and broccoli  consumption helps reduce risk of prostate cancer.   In tomatoes, nutrients called carotenoids, particularly lycopene, could help reduce the risk of prostate cancer.  Lycopene is the major red pigment that makes tomatoes so red.  Broccoli contains sufur compounds that may be helpful in detoxifying carcinogens.
